Has anyone ever asked you what your hobbies are and you quickly learn that you’re the most boring person on the planet? Because, same. I realized that putting outfits together is really the only thing I enjoy doing. Well, that and eating dessert. If planning outfits is my hobby, then shoe shopping is my passion. Sometimes I start with a great pair of shoes and build my entire outfit around it so, to help you out, I’ve rounded up the top five shoe trends for the fall. I promise that, after reading this, you’ll have a new hobby, too.

My first look is the newest and hottest shoe trend for the fall: the low geometric ultra-square-toe heel that’s been making its way down the runway and has no plans of going anywhere. I could have used the cliché “these boots are made for walking,” but I’ll save that for later in the article.

This look is a very office-inspired outfit that can quickly transition into after work drinks. I paired a black pair of cropped flare pants (another big trend) with a classic white button-up and a muted green/gray kitten heel boot. Don’t be afraid of color with this trend. Shoes are art, and they should be treated as such. The funky geometric heel makes this classic ensemble really pop, and I found several geometric heels options that I think you’ll love.

My next look is 100 percent a look for less, which are my favorite words in the English language. When I first saw the Prada combat boots, I fell in love, and I made it my mission to find an exact replica without spending my rent money. I found these combat boots from ASOS complete with side pockets, which are detachable. Some people are very weary of this trend, but I have convinced all of my friends that they are a fashion must — and I don’t take that statement lightly. There are just so many ways to style these boots!

I paired my look with a simple black oversized blazer and a tight-fitted plaid dress underneath. Schoolgirl style is another trend I’m loving for the fall. These boots could easily be worn with black leggings and an oversized sweater, creating the perfect apple picking outfit. And, yes, apple picking outfits are certainly a thing.

My next look is the perfect monochrome moment, and we all need a monochromatic moment this season. I paired a cotton nude dress and circle bag with matching below-the-knee boots, which is another trend you’ll be seeing this fall.

This look screams Victoria Beckham circa 1997 Posh Spice, and I love that for us. I’ve had these boots for almost two years, and I could never part with them. Don’t worry, I found similar ones for you to complete your closet!

My next look is hands down my absolute favorite. This is a major win for looks for less! I found an exact replica of the Jacquemus Blazer cutout dress and paired it with a YSL patent leather thigh-high.

You always need a thigh-high in your closet. I repeat, you will always need a thigh-high in your closet! I found both of these items at Zara and — I’m not kidding — it felt like Christmas morning.

My last look is all about the comfy, cozy ski trip vibes. Another huge trend for the fall is the ankle combat boot and, although this isn’t my typical style, I am a sucker for a trend. The key to looks for less is knowing what timeless pieces to splurge on and what trends probably won’t be around next fall. Under $100 is our sweet spot.

I found these boots from Princess Polly and paired them with a cozy Zara romper. You can also style these boots with shorts and an oversized blazer or jeans and a chunky sweater. Get creative, because this a funky trend that may put you a little out of your comfort zone — but embrace it!
