Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced on Thursday (1 November) that it will introduce non-stop flights from Singapore to Seattle from 3 September 2019.

Seattle is the fifth city in the US on SIA’s route network, and the fourth to be served non-stop from Singapore after San Francisco, New York (Newark Airport) and Los Angeles. SIA also flies from Singapore to Houston with a stop in Manchester, England, said the airline in a press release.

Four weekly flights by Oct 2019

The non-stop Singapore-Seattle flights will initially fly three times per week, with one more weekly flight to be added in October 2019. There will be 42 business class, 24 premium economy class and 187 economy class seats on board the Airbus A350-900 aircraft serving the route.

All Seattle-bound flights will depart at 9.25am (Singapore time) and arrive at 9.05am (Seattle time) on the same day, while Singapore-bound flights will depart at 10.40am and arrive at 5.30pm (Singapore time) the following day.

Flights will initially be scheduled for every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, while the Sunday flights will be added the following month.

Expansion of operations in US market

SIA chief executive officer Goh Choon Phong said the upcoming Seattle flights demonstrate SIA’s “commitment to expand our operations in the important US market and grow our network reach”.

“The new services will also further strengthen the Singapore hub by providing customers faster and more convenient connectivity from key markets such as South-east Asia, South Asia and Australasia to North America,” he added.

Seattle is home to the headquarters of many major US corporations such as Microsoft, Amazon and Starbucks. It is also a popular tourist destination, with its lush evergreen forests and parks, vibrant arts and cultural scene, as well as for being the gateway for cruises to Alaska.

Non-stop flight to LA from tomorrow

This announcement comes a day before the launch of the non-stop flights from Singapore to Los Angeles using the Airbus A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range) aircraft. The existing non-stop service to San Francisco will also be increased from seven to 10 flights per week from 28 November.

With the introduction of the Seattle flights next year, SIA will be operating 57 flights per week to the US. Tickets for the non-stop Seattle flights will be made available for sale progressively from 7 November.
