Siddiq Fadzil is this year's Tokoh Maal Hijrah

KUALA LUMPUR: Kolej Dar al-Hikmah president Prof Datuk Dr Siddiq Fadzil has been announced as this year’s national-level Tokoh Maal Hijrah.

Siddiq was selected as the winner for his contributions to uphold Islam on both the national and international stage.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V presented the award to Siddiq at the national-level Maal Hijrah celebration, held at the Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan tonight.

Siddiq, a father of seven, took home a cash prize of RM100,000, a trophy and a certificate.

Siddiq, 71, is also the chairman of the Civilisation Research Academy, a panelist with the Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YaPEIM) Management Academy, chairman of Institut Darul Ehsan (IDE), as well as IDE Maqasid Shariah Research chairman.
