Singapore achieves highest ever score in global liveability report

Singapore is now more liveable than ever, according to the latest findings of Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU)’s Global Liveability Ranking. The latest findings saw Singapore obtain its highest ever score and ranking in history. The results also show that Singapore is more liveable than Hong Kong for the first time, ranking 35th. Hong Kong came in 45th on the list.

The improvement in Singapore’s overall score and ranking were attributed to “improvements in educational attainment”, comments Jon Copestake, the editor of the survey. This allowed the overall score for the city-state to rise above 90% for the first time since the survey began, says Copestake.

Nevertheless, Copestake adds, “It is worth remembering that, although ten ranking places now separate Hong Kong and Singapore, the difference between them is marginal at just 1.6% and both comfortably sit on the top tier of liveability.”
