Singapore actress Sharon Au to leave Mediacorp in February
Another local actress will be leaving Mediacorp, and this time it’s Sharon Au.
According to a statement to Channel NewsAsia, her last day of service falls on 1 February. The 42-year-old said that she had been studying in France for a year and hopes to pursue other challenges in the country.
After spending 22 years with Mediacorp, Au said that her resignation was a “hard decision” to make. It was also reported that she had spent five years studying under a company scholarship. The last seven years were spent on fashion and online portals management.
On Thursday (5 January), Au shared a throwback photo on Instagram of herself when she first started acting.

Her memorable roles on television include “Cheng Meiguang” in the sitcom Right Frequency. Her last drama with the company was Tiramisu in the mid-’00s, where she played the role of a hawker.
Before the official announcement, Au had somewhat hinted on her departure on her blog in November 2017.
In her post, she said, “You will never be ready or ready enough. To make a leap you have to first jump. No amount of preparation will be sufficient. You can weigh all the pros and cons you and your friends can think of. But you will never advance, if you do not make the first step. Jump, and regret later.”
