A Singapore track and field coach has been charged with five counts of outrage of modesty.

Loh Chan Pew, 72, was charged in court on Thursday (25 May), reported the Straits Times. Loh is the vice-president (competitions organising) of Singapore Athletics (SA).

He allegedly used criminal force to molest two female victims, then aged 16 and 18, between 2011 and 2013.

In August 2016, media reports said Loh took a leave of absence from SA amidst a police investigation.

According to the Straits Times, Loh returned to SA in March, but took a leave of absence again on Thursday. He has claimed trial and will engage a lawyer.

If found guilty of using criminal force with the intention to outrage the modesty of a person, Loh faces a jail term of up to two years, a fine, or both. He is not liable for caning as he is over 50.
