Bedok Point closes, to be redeveloped into mixed-use development Sky Eden

SINGAPORE – Bedok Point closed its doors for the last time on Friday (1 July) and will be redeveloped as a mixed-use development which will include residential units.

Sky Eden, with its 99-year lease, will feature 12 commercial units on the first floor and residential units on the upper floors, according to developer Frasers Property.

There will be 158 apartments, ranging from 2 to 4-bedroom units.

Facilities within walking distance include the Bedok Integrated Transport Hub; Bedok Bus Interchange; and Heartbeat@Bedok, which houses a library, polyclinic and swimming complex as well as the Kampung Chai Chee Community Club. There is also a wet market and hawker centres nearby.

Competition from Bedok Mall

Officially opened in April 2011, the Bedok Point was touted as a food haven that operated late. It was also the first air-conditioned mall of its kind in the Bedok town area and had tenants such as Hoshino Coffee, Starbucks, Kungfu Paradise and Harvey Norman.

Over the years however, Bedok Point lost its allure to Bedok Mall, which opened three years later. The latter not only housed a larger variety of businesses, but is also more conveniently located – beside the Bedok bus interchange and MRT station.

Frasers Property bought Bedok Point from one of its real estate investment trusts, Frasers Centrepoint Trust (FCT) for S$108 million in 2020.

Mall regulars and tenants posted several last-day videos on social media, showing past scenes and empty shops.
