UPDATED 2:50pm, 16 February 2018: This story has been amended to clarify that the 54 people were affected all on one day.

A catering company has had its food hygiene grade downgraded to “C” by the National Environment Agency (NEA) after 54 people reportedly suffered food poisoning in November.

54 people reported symptoms of gastroenteritis, or stomach flu, after consuming food provided by Team Catering on 24 November last year, said the NEA in a press release on Thursday (15 February).

The new grade, down from “B”, takes effect from Thursday and will be reviewed in 12 months.

The NEA added that it will keep Team Catering’s premises at 3015 Bedok North Street 5, #01-01, Shimei East Kitchen under surveillance.

Members of the public can view the revised grade after 12 months on NEA’s website, said the authorities.

According to its website, Team Catering, established since 1991, is halal-certified and operates out of three central kitchens. Two of them are located in Bedok – one at Shimei East Kitchen – with the third one located at 5 Mandai Link.

Yahoo News Singapore has reached out to the catering company for comments.
