Singapore celebrities Zoe Tay, Rebecca Lim and Mark Lee, among others, went to the Esplanade Theatres on the Bay on Sunday (21 Jan) to show support for Shalynn Tsai’s first solo violin recital.

Tsai is the daughter of Channel 8 actress Chen Xiuhuan (also known as Sherry Tan) and has been playing the violin since she was five years old.

The 17-year-old performed to a star-studded crowd, which also saw Huang Biren and Hong Hui Fang in the audience.

At the end of the show, Tsai was welcomed with much praise and a bouquet of flowers.

“A stellar performance!” said Huang, who posted a group photo on Instagram.

Chen was a Mediacorp artiste from 1984 to 1997 and was known for her role in television show A Promise For Tomorrow. She left the entertainment industry due to family commitments.

Other than her recent solo recital, Tsai has also performed on live television, such as the recent countdown show at Mediacorp that was aired on Channel 5. She performed alongside singer Aisyah Aziz and electronic duo Rave Republic.
