Developers in Singapore sold 40 per cent more private homes, excluding executive condominium (EC) units, in December compared with the same period a year earlier, data compiled by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) showed.

Developers sold 602 units last month, up from 431 units in December 2017, according to figures in the URA’s survey of licensed housing developers released Tuesday (15 January). Sales in December fell by almost half from 1,201 units in November.

Including ECs, developers sold 605 units in December, up from 531 units in the same period a year earlier, but down from 1,205 units in November.

Developers launched 101 new units, excluding ECs, in December, a sharp drop of 92 per cent from 1,342 units in November.

Home buyers continued to pick up units from projects launched in November, notably Parc Esta and Whistler Grand, as well as those from earlier launches, said Tricia Song, Head of Research for Singapore, Colliers International.

The top three selling private residential projects in December were Parc Esta, with 160 units sold at a median price of $1,687 per square foot; Whistler Grand, where 128 units were transacted at a median price of $1,327 psf; and Riverfront Residences, with 47 units sold at a median price of $1,313 psf, according to Colliers.
