Singapore to host prestigious Global Coach Conference in 2023
SINGAPORE — Singapore has won the bid to host the International Council for Coaching Excellence Global Coach Conference (ICCE GCC) in 2023, becoming the third Asian city to host the event after Beijing and Tokyo.
The prestigious biennial event will see top coaches, sport scientists, technical directors and administrators discuss current and emerging issues in coaching.
The successful bid was announced by Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Edwin Tong during the annual CoachSG Conference at the Sport Singapore Auditorium on Tuesday (26 October).
"This is indeed a great honour and privilege, and a significant milestone for CoachSG, an organisation that is only five years young," he said, lauding the efforts of CoachSG - Singapore's coaching academy set up in 2017 - in being a thought leader among the global coaching community with its various papers presented at international conferences and webinars.
The three-day CoachSG Conference - to be held in a hybrid format following COVID-19 safe management measures - features keynote speakers such as Australian coach developer Wayne Goldsmith, coach developer; Yuko Fujii, the first female head coach of the Brazilian men's judo team; and Singapore's Mark Chay, coach of five-time Paralympic gold medallist Yip Pin Xiu.
The conference also saw the launch of the SportSG-ED, a platform for online sport education which seeks to bring together sports professionals in various fields to deliver content.
