Singapore tops yet another list. This time, it's the safest city in the world – according to research by Forbes Advisor.

The study assessed a city based on a few factors, including travel safety rating data from the United States Department of State, crime risk, personal security risk and health security risk, and assigned each a score out of 100.

Singapore scored a zero out of 100, and while most Asian mothers would be aghast, it's a good thing as a zero is the safest score possible.

A former North Korean diplomat, the country wants to restart nuclear talks with the United States if Trump is re-elected as president.

Ri Il Gyu, the highest-ranking North Korean diplomat to defect to the South since 2016, said Pyonyang was mapping out a strategy with Trump being re-elected in mind.

Ri also shared that the North has set its sights on Russia, US, and Japan as its top foreign policy priorities for this year and beyond.

A new American study has found that cancer rates in millennials and Gen X-ers have risen dramatically in recent years.

According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), the rates of 17 types of cancer, including pancreatic, breast and gastric cancer, have risen with each new generation since 1920.

Additionally, millennials and Gen X-ers face a greater risk of cancers which were in decline for the baby boomers and older generations.

Experts are still researching the cause but their main suspect is obesity.

North and South Korea went viral in a rare moment of unity at the Olympics.

Tensions are at an all-time high between both countries but it didn't stop their athletes from taking a group photo after the table tennis mixed doubles at the Paris Games.

In that category, South Korea clinched the bronze medal, North Korea took silver, and China finished top.

South Korea's Lim Jong-hoon then took a group photo of all the winners, which included the athletes from the other two countries.

Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant Chef Kang's will close its doors on 10 October.

It was announced in a press release that the brains (and hands) behind it, Chef Ang Song Kang, is "ready to embrace retirement".

The restaurant has consistently earned one Michelin star from 2017 and 2024, and only serves three tables a night.

MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, is YouTube's biggest star and huge philanthropic force.

For those who aren't familiar with internet culture, you might recognise him as the YouTuber who gives away money and houses.

This Thai father merely wanted to let his daughter break into the entertainment scene but was left with broken dreams and debt of more than 2 million baht (S$75,287).

The man, identified as Tee, met a woman named Namphueng through Facebook. She claimed his daughter could film a commercial with Blackpink's Lisa for 150,000 baht, but required a deposit of 75,000 baht.

Tee also paid Nampheung for acting lessons and a separate commercial shoot for a well-known yogurt brand. It was reported that the shoot appeared legitimate with other participants present.

About 100,000 fans gather at San Diego Comic-Con every year to celebrate the biggest in pop culture.

Yet, heinous plans were afoot at this massive gathering as California authorities executed a human trafficking sting operation.

Over a dozen suspects were arrested and 10 potential victims were rescued, the California Department of Justice said in a press release on 30 July.

Of the 10 rescued, nine are adults and one is 16.

Attorney General Rob Bonta said in the release that sex traffickers tend to "capitalise on large scale events such as Comic-Con to exploit their victims for profit".

Netflix dropped a surprise teaser early morning on 1 Aug to announce the release date of Squid Game season two.

It will premier just after Christmas this year on 26 December.

An official synopsis has also been released and it states, "Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport. Using this fortune to fund his search, Gi-hun starts with the most obvious of places: look for the man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway.

"But when his efforts finally yield results, the path toward taking down the organisation proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it.”

But that's not all – season three was also announced by creator Hwang Dong-hyuk. It's the final season in the series and it's slated to air in 2025.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) saw their passenger yield (a measure of flight profitability) dip 4.6 per cent in the June quarter.

Compared to a year ago, it fell from 10.8 Singaporean cents per kilometre to 10.3 Singaporean cents.

On Wednesday (31 July), the airlines warned that "passenger yields are expected to stay below the previous year's levels... particularly in the Asia-Pacific region".

There are two factors for this – heightened competition from other airlines and rising fuel prices.
