Pokemon Go has claimed its first legal casualties in Singapore, as two men were arrested in a brawl over the popular gaming app.

Police said on Tuesday (16 August) that this is the first arrest case related to Pokemon Go, as the two men, aged 28 and 33, were detained on Sunday for affray.

Police received a call reporting a dispute between a car driver and a pedestrian at the car park entrance to Plaza Singapura.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the pedestrian was playing the game on his mobile phone while crossing the road. When the driver sounded his horn at the pedestrian, a dispute arose and blows were exchanged.

Police arrested both men at the scene.

The offence of affray, or an instance of group fighting in a public place that disturbs the peace, carries an imprisonment term of up to one year or a fine of $5000, or both.

Police advised Pokémon GO players to enjoy the game safely.
