Singapore ranked best Asian country for expats: survey

Despite high living expenses, expatriates based in Singapore are generally happy with their well-being, health, safety, family life, and work.

In a recent survey by InterNations, Singapore came in sixth in the list of top expat destinations, making it the first Asian country on the list.

Singapore also rank sixth in the surveys Quality of Life Index. For example, 76 percent of the Singapore-based respondents described the quality of medical care as good or even very good; considerably higher than the global average of 53 percent.

Additionally, about 87 percent of those polled also feel extremely safe in Singapore, exceeding the global average of 46 percent.

However only 15 percent of those surveyed think positively of housing prices in Singapore, which is far less than the global average of 50 percent, and only eight percent of respondents describe the general costs of living as good or very good.

The only other Asian countries in the overall top ten list are the Philippines and Hong Kong, which were ranked eighth and tenth respectively on the list.

Ecuador emerged as the top destination in the survey, while Greece, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait ranked in the bottom three.
