On Saturday (12 December), Singapore’s very own vegan fast food eatery will be opening its first overseas outlet in San Francisco, US.

If you happen to be in the area this weekend, VeganBurg, which offers a wide array of meat-free burgers, will be located at 1466 Haight Street.

The business was launched in Singapore in October 2010. Today, it has five outlets in the country, including a branch on Jalan Eunos and another one at Turf Club.

According to Hoodline, a San Francisco neighbourhood news site, the restaurant originally planned to open during the summer – usually between July to September – but was forced to delay due to contractor difficulties.

VeganBurg is not the only Singapore brand that has gone global - other brands have set foot outside of the country as well.

Popular bakery BreadTalk can now be found in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand as well as China. Thai food restaurant Thai Express is also available in Mongolia, Australia and China.

Meanwhile, premium tea brand TWG Tea is available in the US market via café and gourmet market Dean & Deluca, and has been added to popular Harrods UK department store's tea emporium in London.
