Singapore telco M1 partners GrabTaxi to allow direct carrier billing for drivers
Now, taxi drivers who use GrabTaxi will not have to travel to the startup’s office to pay their commission fees
Launched in October 2013, Malaysia-based taxi booking app service GrabTaxi has today announced that it has partnered up with Singaporean telco M1 to allow its drivers to pay through their M1 bills, instead of having to make a trip to the startup’s office at Midview City.
In addition, taxi drivers who are M1 subscribers will be able to enjoy a 20 per cent bonus for each S$10 (US$7.96), S$30 (US$23.88) or S$50 (US$39.80) top up of their GrabTaxi accounts, which will then be used to deduct commission fees when trips are being booked using the app.
“Time is money, ” said P Subramaniam, Chief Marketing Officer, M1, adding, “and we are pleased to work with GrabTaxi to allow Singapore’s hardworking and tech-savvy taxi drivers to top up their GrabTaxi credits more conveniently.”
According to an official statement, GrabTaxi “has enabled many taxi drivers to enjoy increased earnings of over 30 per cent”.
Furthermore, the first 10,000 M1 customers to book a taxi ride with the app will enjoy a S$3 (US$2.39) discount. The offer will end May 31, 2014.
