SINGAPORE — Singapore on Saturday (19 March) recorded more than 1 million COVID-19 cases to date since the start of the pandemic more than two years ago.

The 10,244 new COVID-19 cases reported on Saturday bring the total to 1,007,158, according to figures released by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on its website.

Of the new cases, 10,102 are local – 7,912 were detected via antigen rapid tests (ART), while 2,190 were detected via polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests.

The remaining 142 are imported, of whom 91 were detected via ART and 51 via PCR tests.

A total of 3 COVID-19 related deaths were also reported on Saturday, bringing the death toll here to 1,194.

Over the last 28 days, 435,235 cases were reported, of whom 99.7 per cent had no or mild symptoms.

The weekly infection growth rate – or ratio of community cases for the past week over the week before – was at 0.70.

A figure of less than one means that the number of new weekly cases is on the decline.

A total of 11,536 cases have been discharged, while 1,130 are in hospital.

Of those still hospitalised, 0.2 per cent require oxygen supplementation, while 0.04 per cent are in the intensive care unit (ICU).

As of Friday, 92 per cent of the total population have completed the full vaccination regimen, while 70 per cent have received their booster shots.
