Singapore Zoo welcomes new Grevy's zebra foal

The Singapore Zoo welcomed a new addition to its inhabitants on 30 September 2021 with the birth of Izara, a female Grevy's zebra.

This is the first birth of the endangered Grevy's zebra at the Singapore Zoo. Izara was borth to two six-year-old zebras, dad Desta and mom Kolle, who arrived at the zoo together with two other females in June 2020.

Wild populations of Grevy's zebras have fallen by 85 per cent in the last 30 years, due to a reduction of water sources, habitat loss, hunting, and disease.
