Singaporean arrested in Batam for sodomising children: report

A Singaporean man has been arrested in Batam for allegedly sodomising children, said a Straits Times report, citing local police sources.

According to a police statement on Thursday (12 October), the man, who is an entrepreneur, allegedly committed the offences between 16 and 24 September in the Nongsa area. Preliminary investigations revealed three victims, said the police.

The Batam police chief has urged residents to notify the police if they were to know of more victims.

If found guilty of sodomising children, the man faces a jail term of up to 15 years.
