The usually placid park, which is popular with joggers and runners – and was at one point a hotspot for untimely deaths – can now be known for being the home of the first all-weather water adventure center.
On top of that, the new HomeTeamNS’ clubhouse at Bedok Reservoir also houses Singapore’s longest indoor water slide.
This is the sixth HomeTeamNS clubhouse to open in Singapore. HomeTeamNS is a nonprofit that recognizes contributions from national servicemen and encourages citizens to stay active through its recreational properties around the city-state.
The public can look forward to fun experiences like kayaking and dragon boating on the reservoir, and also take on indoor adventure activities like Singapore’s longest 114-meter water slide, the first indoor wet obstacle rope course on the island, climbing walls and a relaxing laze pool.
There is also a fully equipped gym with programmes and a large infinity pool that overlooks the reservoir.
Other facilities include the Mancaves, a recreational area where families can karaoke, play games and even set up one of Singapore’s favorite pastimes: barbecuing.
For those looking to kill more time, there are also villas that feature views of the reservoir, plenty of space for large groups and their own barbecue pits.
The clubhouse also implements smart digital features like a robot concierge, keyless door codes, smart lighting with motion sensors and a gamifier system which is integrated in the HomeTeamNS app.
Minister for Home Affairs and Law, and also the chairman of the HomeTeamNS board of governors, K. Shanmugam was part of the opening ceremony on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
He said, “This clubhouse is for our national servicemen, whose service to the nation has been invaluable. It is a place where our national servicemen can come together, and feel proud to be part of the Home Team.
He added that the location was deliberately chosen because of the reservoir waterfront and the large population of NSmen living in the Bedok neighbourhood.
