UPDATE: SMRT tweeted at 9.46am that the Circle Line fault had been cleared, and that free regular bus services had ceased.

Trains on the Circle Line were delayed early Wednesday morning (15 November) due to a signal fault. SMRT tweeted at about 6.28am that trains were moving slower between Botanic Gardens and Haw Par Villa stations, and that it was investigating.

It added shortly after at about 6.40am that commuters should add 20 minutes of train travel time between Buona Vista and HarbourFront station in both directions.

SMRT tweeted that free regular bus services were available between Farrer Road and Kent Ridge stations, and between Botanic Gardens and Kent Ridge stations.

Commuters were displeased by the news, with some stating that the trains had stopped completely.

The delay comes a day after Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan said the massive train breakdown of 7 October was “not a proud moment for SMRT“.
