9am update: SMRT says the signalling fault has been rectified. The free bus services between Kranji and Jurong East have ceased.

SINGAPORE — SMRT announced on Monday morning (16 December) that there is no train service on the North South Line (NSL) between Kranji and Bukit Gombak stations “due to a signalling fault”. The service disruption was first announced at 8.14am.

In its Twitter posts about the delay, the transport operator announced that free regular bus and free bridging bus services would be provided between Kranji and Jurong East stations.

Commuters tweeted videos and photos of the large crowds at affected stations, such as at Yew Tee and Choa Chu Kang.
