Social Media Reacts To Tulsi Gabbard's Confirmation As National Intelligence Director
The Senate may have confirmed Tulsi Gabbard as Donald Trump’s director of national intelligence, but many people on social media remain skeptical that she is the right person for the job.
The Senate voted narrowly52-48 for Gabbard, mostly along party lines (except for former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell).
The confirmation comes after months of contentious debate about Gabbard’s qualifications for the role, with her lack of experience in the intelligence field, her pro-Putin views, and her support of now-deposed Syrian President Bashar Assad all playing factors.
Not surprisingly, people on social media had thoughts, including many politicians.
I’m the first CIA officer elected to the Senate and had the honor to help stand up @ODNIgov after 9/11. We need someone in this office who has the competence & character to make the tough decisions, in the dead of night, to keep Americans safe.
Tulsi Gabbard isn’t that person. pic.twitter.com/uQoVyveIOZ— Sen. Elissa Slotkin (@SenatorSlotkin) February 11, 2025
Tulsi Gabbard — or as Russian state media calls her, “our friend Tulsi” — is not on the right side of the clash of civilizations America is engaged in.
But my Republican colleagues just confirmed her anyway. pic.twitter.com/xdB9tZaaM4— Sheldon Whitehouse (@SenWhitehouse) February 12, 2025
Regular citizens had thoughts as well.
Now that Tulsi Gabbard was confirmed today how many of our allies will just stop sharing intelligence with us....?

Believing that Tulsi Gabbard — longtime Russian asset and newly confirmed Director of National Intelligence — is acting in the interests of the United States requires an extraordinary level of self-delusion.
