SolGen: De Lima ‘falsified’ SC petition

Solicitor General Jose Calida said the petition filed by Senator Leila de Lima at the Supreme Court should be dismissed because it is ‘falsified.’

In a manifestation before the court, SolGen Calida pointed out that the verification and certification against forum shopping page appeared to be notarized by a certain Atty. Maria Cecille Tresvalles-Cabalo on February 24 in Quezon City.

Calida said De Lima could not have personally appeared before the notary because on the same date, she was arrested and detained in PNP Custodial Center, presented before Muntinlupa RTC and brought back to her detention cell.

So, the guest logbook of the PNP Custodial Center does not bear the name of Atty. Tresvalles-Cabalo which suggests that the notary never entered Camp Crame on that day.

But De Lima’s lawyer, Atty. Alex Padilla said he is sure the senator saw the notary and it was entered in her registry.

He added that the OSG is just desperate, and even assuming the allegation is true, it cannot invalidate De Lima’s petition. — Roderic Mendoza | UNTV News & Rescue
