Sony celebrates half a billion PlayStation sales with limited-edition console

Since the launch of the very first PlayStation in 1994, more than 500 million of the various versions of the games console have been sold around the world. To mark the occasion, Sony is releasing the PlayStation 4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition, which will go on sale on August 24.

Only 50,000 units of the PlayStation 4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition will go on sale worldwide, with European units priced at €499. The console, based on the PS4 Pro 2TB, comes in a translucent dark blue shell which allows you to see the interior of the machine when it is turned on.

To underline their exclusive limited-edition nature, each console sports an etched copper plate with its unique serial number.

In this collector's edition, which comes in special packaging, the console is bundled with a matching translucent blue accessories: a wireless DualShock4 controller, a vertical stand, a mono headset, and a PlayStation Camera, which also comes with a stand. 

As for optional accessories, Sony is launching the matching wireless controller separately, on August 24 , at a retail price of €64. But gamers will have to wait until October 11 to get hold of the matching translucent dark blue and copper emblazoned Gold 500 Million Limited Edition wireless headset, which will retail for €89.
