South Africa's Jacques Du Plessis signs new French deal

Montpellier's South African lock Jacques du Plessis has not played since injuring his knee in a pre-season friendly against Connacht on August 11. 2016

South African forward Jacques Du Plessis penned a new deal with Montpellier on Friday which will keep him at the French club until 2019, a rare highlight in a season which has seen him sidelined through injury. The 23-year-old, who arrived in France from the Bulls last season, hasn't played since injuring his knee in a pre-season friendly against Connacht on August 11. But he could return on Sunday when Montpellier take on triple European champions Toulon in Marseille in the Top 14. "Montpellier is a very good club and I think this is a chance for me to develop here. It was an easy decision to make," said Du Plessis.
