SINGAPORE – Luxury brand Cartier will be hosting South Korean actor Ji Chang-Wook, 32, at their Clash de Cartier pop-up studio in Singapore. The actor, who recently starred in romantic comedy Melting Me Softly, is set to grace the event on Thursday (14 November).

Chang-Wook began his acting career in 2008 and is best known for playing the lead actor in action thriller, Healer. After the drama aired in December 2014, Ji Chang-Wook rose to popularity in Singapore, China and other parts of Asia. For his role in Healer, Ji Chang-Wook won the Popularity Award and Best Couple Award with Park Min-Young at the 2014 KBS Drama Awards, and Most Popular Overseas Actor at the 2015 China TV Drama Awards. The talented star also has an affinity for music, and has released several singles and a Mandarin EP.

The pop-up in Singapore follows the launch of the Clash de Cartier collection in Paris earlier this year, allowing for guests to explore the collection in an unconventional and immersive space.

Echoing the Paris launch, the pop-up will feature similar themes of literature, music and art, all in opposition. The interactive pop-up also allows guests to answer a simple questionnaire to determine which room to start with – the Bookstore or Record Store.

Bookstore

The Bookstore will contain books that were specifically curated to display contradictions in genres, content and themes. In this room, guests are able to do a simple personality test to determine their “Clash” alter ego personality, which will be translated into a personalised Haiku poem crafted by the Haiku poets stationed within the room. Each guest's customised Haiku poem will be typed out by an old school typewriter and given to guests to take with them as a memento.

Record Store

In the Record Store, futuristic sound showers will be installed in the room, where guests will be able to listen to the Clash de Cartier playlist curated by leading French sound designer, Michel Gaubert. Guests are also able to scan the Spotify code and have the playlist appear in their own Spotify accounts.

Photo opportunities

There are various photo opportunities at multiple touchpoints within the entire space, including a play on optical illusion, whereby guests can view things upside down. Also, guests can receive their portraits printed with specially created elements centering on key product codes of Clash de Cartier from gold to the word, “Clash”, designed by renowned French author and artist, Thomas Lélu.

Cafe

The Cafe will be the main lounge area, where guests are able to rest and relax, and enjoy their complimentary “Clash” pastry and drink. Embracing the opposition of cultures in Singapore, where East meets West, one half of the Cafe will be modelled with local décor while the other half will come with contemporary European metallic design. Adding to the juxtaposition is a daily local DJ performance at the Cafe from 15 to 17 November, 6pm to 9pm.
