Spanish female tourist injured in Mulu Cave fall

MIRI: An elderly tourist from Spain had to be flown to the Miri Hospital this afternoon due to leg injuries after she slipped and fell following a visit to the famed Mulu Caves near here.

Marudi Fire and Rescue Department head Maureen Sim Ah Lian said Josesa Nebot Fotuny,58, who had come to Mulu with some friends on Monday suffered the mishap at about 1pm after visiting the cave complex.

“Based on the initial information we received from the group’s tour guide, Fotuny injured her ankles,” Sim told Bernama.

Sim said the extent of the injuries was not immediately available.

Sim added that the Miri Fire and Rescue Department Air Unit flew over an air ambulance and brought her to the hospital at 6.30pm.-- BERNAMA © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
