Background

Eton-educated TV star Spencer, 27, is 14 years younger than his brother James, a hedgefund manager and self-made multimillionaire.

Spencer grew up at his family's 30 acre, 18th century Caunton Manor estate in Nottinghamshire, but Spencer spent much of his youth at boarding school and holidaying at the exclusive Eden Rock Hotel in St Barths, which his parents David and Jane Matthews bought in 1995, transforming it into one of the top 100 hotels in the world.

In 2006, he upped sticks to the US to study for a degree in cinema and television arts at the University of Southern California (USC), but apparently left after nine months. Back in London he started working as a PR Manager for celebrity-loving London clubs like Movida, Amika and Boujis before becoming a City broker.

Spencer has an older sister Nina. His other older brother Matthew died climbing Mount Everest in May 1999 aged just 22. He had become the youngest Briton to ever manage to summit the peak, only to disappear after becoming separated from his guides in Everest’s while descending. His body was never found.

Spencer regularly raises funds for charity and promotes the Michael Matthews Foundation (MMF) in memory of his brother. The foundation helps to provide education for children in remote places.

Reality TV

Fame was calling and Spencer signed up for Made in Chelsea in 2011 becoming one of the original stars of the E4 structured-reality show, which is now on its 15th series.

He proved popular among viewers as cameras filmed the drama of his various on-screen relationships (Caggie, Funda, Louise) and followed him up and down Chelsea's King's Road as he and his friends cavorted around the exclusive bars and clubs of south west London.

In 2012, Spencer appeared in Channel 5 series The Bachelor, in which 24 single ladies competed for his attention. At the end of the series, Spencer chose Khloe Evans to be his girlfriend but the relationship didn't last. Khloe was seen days after The Bachelor finished kissing The Only Way is Essex hunk Tom Pearce.

In 2015, Spencer was back on our screens as a contestant on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! However, presenters Ant and Dec unexpectedly announced that Spencer had left the show after two days when producers discovered that he was using steroids.

Most recently Spencer was back on form having won the fourth series of Channel 4's The Jump, where celebrities test their skills at ski-jumping. He appeared alongside Bradley Wiggins, Gareth Thomas and Emma Parker Bowles.

Before the show started, Spencer revealed to Heat that he did not even read the contract before signing up to the show: "No, not at all. There must be one with the show, but I didn’t really read the contract, I just signed it.

Is he single?

Spencer has garnered a reputation as a bit of lothario ever since he released an autobiography titled Confessions Of A Chelsea Boy in 2013, in which he claimed he'd slept with 1,000 women by the age of 27.

He's currently dating Irish model and reality TV star Vogue Williams, 31, who competed with him on The Jump and whose ex-husband is former Westlife star Brian McFadden. Spencer recently compared her to Cindy Crawford, saying he was dating a young and better looking version of the supermodel.

Vogue is not thought to be attending Pippa's nuptials.
