A first look at the cover for PlayStation 5 launch title "Spider-Man: Miles Morales" shows how the black, white, and dark blue of the PlayStation 5 console is mirrored by box art detailing for the machine's 4K Blu-ray disks.
Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed the PlayStation 5 a month ago in June, complete with a first look at the console's design.
Its white exterior fins sandwich a glossy black wedge and dark blue highlights picked up from an earlier preview of a similarly tri-tone PlayStation 5 controller.
That three-color design is carried on to the box art for "Spider-Man: Miles Morales" and, by extension, the rest of the PS5's physical disk packaging.
The game is a high-profile launch window title for the PlayStation 5.
Sony had already been using its acclaimed 2018 PlayStation 4 release "Marvel's Spider-Man" to demonstrate the rapid loading times of prototype PlayStation 5 hardware.
Based on the same concepts and created by the same Sony studio, Insomniac Games, "Spider-Man: Miles Morales" brings players into the suit and headspace of a different incarnation of Marvel's famous webslinger.
The new game is set in the same area as the first, albeit not during exactly the same time period, and provides an opportunity to experience Marvel's New York City from a fresh perspective, with new enemies, set-pieces, a new season, and new powers to experience.
Though this latest PS5 reveal focuses on the product design of its Ultra HD Blu-ray disk boxes, the PlayStation 5 is in fact to launch in two configurations, one with an internal disk drive and the other without.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has yet to detail price and precise launch window information for the PlayStation 5.
Similarly, Microsoft's Xbox division is keeping those same pertinent details under wraps for the time being ahead of the launch of the Xbox Series X and any alternative console configurations.
