S'poreans still buying Johor homes despite vehicle entry fee

Singaporeans are still keen on buying homes and commercial lots in Johor even as the government plans to impose a Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) fee on foreign vehicles entering the Malaysian state, said R&F Properties Sales Executive Chan Fook Kee and reported in the media.

This is because the entry fee is "very much affordable for Singaporeans."

In fact, Singaporeans are still able to save since house prices in Johor are comparatively lower compared to those located across the border, he added.

Meanwhile, commercial lots in Medini, which is just a few minutes drive from Pinewood Malaysia Studios, also received interest from buyers, of which 10 percent were Singaporeans, said Sunsuria Medini's Project Consultant Datuk Jacky Ker.

"Although most of our customers are locals, many Singaporeans are also very interested in starting up businesses here," he said.

Tan Kim Hoong, Project Consultant at Rei Properties, revealed its newly developed Seri Austin Residence Apartment proved to be a hit among Singaporeans as well, accounting for 20 to 30 percent of buyers.

Additionally, most of the Singaporean buyers of Desa Tebrau (pictured) showed interest in securing a place for their retirement, according to William Sia, Senior Sales Executive at Plenitude Tebrau.
