Sri Pentas bomb hoax: Duo remanded for four days


PETALING JAYA: Two men who were believed to have made a hoax bomb threat at the Sri Pentas building in Bandar Utama, Damansara, on Tuesday were remanded for four days beginning today. Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court Assistant Registrar, Hairul Azhar Mohd Ishak issued the remand order against the duo in their 40s. It was to facilitate police investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. The offence carries a maximum penalty of nine-year imprisonment and a fine. Clad in lock-up attire, the duo was seen arriving at the court at 11.25am. Yesterday, police arrested two men at about 8.20pm in Temerloh, Pahang, for suspected involvement in the hoax bomb scare. On Aug 28 , Sri Pentas building management received a call saying a bomb had been placed in the premises, forcing the staff and visitors to vacate the area. Authorities were alerted on the 10.45pm incident and seven men from Damansara Utama fire station were deployed to the scene. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
