The fourth person alleged to have been involved in a murder near St James Power Station last week was charged at a district court on Thursday (16 March).

Clad in a blue t-shirt, 22-year-old Muhammad Faizal Jamal kept a straight face as the murder charge was read to him in Malay.

He is believed to be part of a group that took the life of 35-year-old Sateesh Kumar Manogaran. Three others – Shawalludin Sa’adon, 26, Khalid Kamarudin, 21, and Hisham Hassan, 27 – have also been charged in court.

According to the charge sheet, all four accused allegedly committed the offence between 5.45am and 6am on Sunday. Sateesh was found with stab wounds on his head and back, and was pronounced dead at the Singapore General Hospital at about 6.45am the same day.

Faizal will be remanded at Alpha Police Division to assist with police investigations, along with his co-accused.

All four are expected to be back in court on 21 March. If convicted, they will face the death penalty.
