What’s At Stake For Wang, Zikreev At ONE: INSIDE THE MATRIX IV?

This weekend, ONE: INSIDE THE MATRIX IV will conclude an epic series of martial arts action.

A gripping main event between #2-ranked strawweight kickboxer “Golden Boy” Wang Junguang and European Muay Thai Champion Aslanbek Zikreev will headline the show, which was previously recorded in Singapore and airs this Friday, 20 November.

Both athletes have much to prove in their ONE Super Series kickboxing headliner, so let’s take a closer look.

Wang Aims For Redemption

At ONE: MARK OF GREATNESS in December 2019, the Chinese standout took on current two-sport ONE World Champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao for the inaugural ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Title.

Though Wang made it a competitive affair, he dropped a unanimous decision to the Thai after five rounds of back-and-forth action. The Chinese athlete felt like he’d done enough to earn the judges’ nod, however, and he’d love nothing more than a rematch with Sam-A.

To get that second shot at the belt, Wang will need to protect his #2-contender status in the division by overcoming a seasoned striker in Zikreev.

Zikreev Wants Scorching Debut

Zikreev has enjoyed a lot of success in Russia and Europe, winning titles in both regions.

Now, he’ll look to carry that success onto the global stage of martial arts when he steps into the Circle against Wang.

If the Russian can defeat the #2-ranked contender, he might add his name to the rankings and get closer to challenging Sam-A for the coveted kickboxing strap.

It certainly won’t be easy against Wang, who’s already faced top competition in his career.

Find out which star striker emerges victorious when the previously recorded ONE: INSIDE THE MATRIX IV airs this Friday, 20 November, on the ONE Super App and on meWATCH at 8:30 p.m. Singapore Standard Time (SGT).
