Attempts by Singapore authorities to bring bank robbery suspect David James Roach to Singapore have stalled.

Roach has been held at an immigration detention centre in Bangkok since he was arrested on 10 July.

According to the Straits Times, negotiations are ongoing between Singapore and Thai authorities.

On 7 July, the 27-year-old allegedly robbed a Standard Chartered Bank in Holland Village. The Canadian allegedly fled to Bangkok with about $30,000 in cash on the same day.

Roach was discovered at the Boxpackers hostel in the Petchaburi area and arrested. According to media reports, he has denied any involvement in the robbery.

Singapore and Thailand do not have an extradition treaty.

If Roach cannot be brought back to Singapore, he will be deported to Canada.
