ALOR STAR: Kedah Umno Youth wing today has called on Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) to state the party's stand over the recent tabling of a Private Member's Bill by Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Its chief Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin said PPBM leadership's silence over the bill has raised question on the party's stand on the move to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 or popular referred as RUU355 while the party considered itself as part of the Pakatan Harapan component.

Shaiful claimed PPBM's silence proved that the party was a mere tools by DAP to swing the Malay community's support away from Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN).

"Hence, Kedah Umno Youth believes "mosquito" or "peripheral" are the best words to describe the function and the true colours of PPBM.

"We once again challenge PPBM to announce its stand on RUU355 because their stand reflect the party's principle in the national mainstream politics," he said in a statement today.

Shaiful stressed that PPBM could not forever depend on the party's image as an anti-Najib (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak) and should begin moving towards establishing itself as a people-centric party.

"The people are eager to know what is the PPBM's fundamental and direction, not a party that fighting for irrelevant and outdated issues," he said.

Shaiful said Kedah Umno Youth also condemns several Malay lawmakers for trying to block Hadi's move to table the bill while claiming that their action was politically motivated and being ignorance on the interest of the Muslims community and Islamic religious.

"Kedah Umno Youth worries that they will continue to be used as a tool to achieve "chauvinistic" agenda by certain quarters," he said.
