Star Awards 2017: The winners
The annual Star Awards 2017, which is considered to be Singapore’s version of the Academy Awards, was telecast live on Sunday (16 April), on both Channel 8 and Toggle.
It was a touching affair as television host Quan Yi Fong took home the Best Variety/Info-ed & Infotainment Programme Host award as well as the All-time Favourite award.
Quan’s daughter, Eleanor Lee, joined her on stage to perform a song that celebrated the win, bringing her mother and some of the other actors to tears.
Romeo Tan, one of the “Eight Dukes Of Caldecott Hill”, also received two awards – Best Supporting Actor and a spot as one of the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes.
It was also a night for the veterans. Chen Hanwei won Best Actor, bringing his total number of five Best Actor wins to tie with Xie Shao Guang’s previous record, while the original Queen of Caldecott, Zoe Tay, won Best Actress.
Thankfully, those weird award categories were removed from the show. And yes, the Star Awards did win an award at the Star Awards.
