LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) _ Stericycle Inc. (SRCL) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $18.4 million.
The Lake Forest, Illinois-based company said it had net income of 14 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 93 cents per share.
The medical waste management company posted revenue of $906.4 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Ten analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $905.6 million.
For the year, the company reported profit of $206 million, or $2.08 per share. Revenue was reported as $3.56 billion.
Stericycle shares have climbed slightly since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen roughly 5 percent. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $77.39, a decline of 29 percent in the last 12 months.
