Steve Burton Cast on ‘Days of Our Lives’ After Exiting ‘General Hospital’ Over COVID Mandates
Steve Burton is set to return to Peacock’s “Days of Our Lives,” about a year after he was fired from “General Hospital” for refusing to comply with COVID vaccine mandates, the streamer announced on Wednesday.
The soap star, who began his longtime run as Harris Michaels in 1988 and most recently reprised his role for the Peacock series spin-off of “Days of our Lives, Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem,” will take to the screen early next year. He will appear alongside veteran cast members such as Stephen Nichols, Mary Beth Evans, Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn.
Specific details about his character’s “thrilling new storyline” are being kept under wraps.

Burton’s three-decade stint as fan favorite Jason Morgan on “General Hospital” came to an end when ABC let him go in Nov. 2021.
“Unfortunately, ‘General Hospital’ has let me go because of the vaccine mandate,” he said in an Instagram video post. “I did apply for my medical and religious exemptions and both of those were denied, which, you know hurts, but this is also about personal freedom to me.”
The star has said he would consider returning to the show if vaccine mandates were lifted.
