Stockholm's festive baking competition returns

This is Stockholm’s festive gingerbread competition

LOCATION: Stockholm, Sweden

featuring representations of

Noah’s Ark

The Last Supper

and ‘Central Perk’ coffee shop from the TV show ‘Friends’

The theme for this year’s competition: ‘Together’

(SOUNDBITE) (English) MUSEUM TEACHER AT ARKDES, MUSEUM OF ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN, SARA SANDELL, SAYING:"Well, it's very creative and I think that people have interpreted it (the theme) in different ways but one thing you can see it's to be together with family and friends. And I think that a lot of people have also baked together, so that concept you can see also in their creations. And it's a lot about to be together throughout the world as well, togetherness, people helping each other and being a part of one world."

The annual event is held at the ArkDes museum

and has now been running for 31 years

(SOUNDBITE) (English) MUSEUM TEACHER AT ARKDES, MUSEUM OF ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN, SARA SANDELL, SAYING:"So this is a really nice work. It's the Berlin Wall (BERLIN WALL GINGERBREAD CREATION) that fell in 1989 and it's on the theme 'together' so here we can see people meeting again after having been separated and I think it's a nice interpretation of the theme and also a connection to today and people meeting again after being away from each other."
