KUALA LUMPUR:Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today said DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang should take the helm of Pakatan Harapan since it is the biggest party in the opposition pact.
"Stop belittling the Malays or try to influence them when it is clear that Pakatan Harapan is being dominated and owned by the DAP," he said in a statement.
“We all know that DAP is a party that is dominated by the Chinese and that Lim will never give way to the Malays. This is why Lim must hold the position of Pakatan Harapan chairman,” he said.
The Bera Member of Parliament claimed that even if Lim “appoints a Malay” leader to the post, it would merely be viewed as “part of his trick to deceive Malay voters”.
Thus, Ismail said, Lim should take on the post in order to prove that Pakatan Harapan is not an “Ali Baba” pact.
He also reminded the Malays to be wary of tactics employed by the DAP in fishing for votes.
“The Malays must realise that Lim only wants the Malay votes as a stepping stone for him to take over Putrajaya.
“After that, he will use the Putrajaya's power to rule (the country) for the next few generations.
“Once a dictator, always a dictator,” Ismail pointed out.
Yesterday, Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan had urged Lim to step down “to save Malaysia from evil”.
Rahman said the reason for him calling on Lim to retire was so other potential DAP leaders such as Kepong MP Tan Seng Giaw could shine.
