Strictly Come Dancing contestant Zara McDermott has revealed that she's already succumbed to a foot injury ahead of her first live performance this weekend.

The former Love Island star is gearing up to perform the cha-cha-cha with her professional dance partner Graziano Di Prima this Saturday (September 23), though she's admitted that rehearsals have been a bit of a challenge after Graziano's training trick left her with bleeding feet.

Speaking to The Sun, Zara explained how the pro insisted that she wore "men's shoes with a little Cuban heel" instead of high heels during rehearsals.

She continued: "I told him, 'It’s not working, I need to take them off', and he said, 'No, no you’re fine'.

"I said honestly it’s hurting and I took them off and my feet were bleeding. I was like, 'I told you, I am not being dramatic!'."

While the trick might have backfired at first, Zara added that her feet are now "feeling better" and "getting harder".

It comes after Zara's boyfriend, Made in Chelsea's Sam Thompson, joked that he's "terrified" of Graziano's physical attributes.

"What a beautiful man as well... big muscles, about 6 foot 4, jacked and a year younger than me as well, which is terrifying," he told Hits Radio listeners.

The reality star went on to reveal that he and Zara previously invited Graziano and his wife over for dinner so they could get to know each other.

"He came round for dinner with his lovely, beautiful wife not long ago – we made him spag bol – and we found out loads about him. He grew up in Sicily, he was a grape stomper – I think that's what they call it," he said.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday nights on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights from September 25 on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
