Strong winds, heavy rains, to batter Peninsula, Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR: Folks in the Klang Valley, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Malacca, Perak and Sabah can expect strong winds and heavy rains for the first half of the day today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said heavy thunderstorms on the west coast of the peninsula and northern Borneo may cause strong winds of up to 50 kmph and rough seas, with waves reaching 3.5 metres (11 feet) – a level dangerous to small boats.

Similar conditions have been forecast over the Straits of Malacca and in Labuan. -- BERNAMA
