Strong Winds Topping 90 MPH Damages Complex, Vehicles in Cedar Rapids

Severe storms caused massive property damage and left thousands without power in central and eastern Iowa on Monday, August 10. Footage from Cedar Rapids shows at least one vehicle damaged and one apartment building with roof damage.

According to reports, officials in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City asked residents to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel so clean-up crews could assess the extent of the damage. Power outages were reported in the hundreds of thousands across Iowa and Wisconsin.

Winds of at least 97 mph were reported north of Cedar Rapids.
