A team of students in Vinnytsia Oblast make attack drones and bombers for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, team head, Vladyslav, told Suspilne Vinnytsia.

The team of eight children made the first drones for their computer science teacher, who is currently defending Ukraine.

When the schoolchildren met with the teacher and learned about the military's need for drones, they decided to help.

"Our informatics (course in computer science - ed.) teacher Andriy ... told us of the great need for drones at the front," Vladyslav said.

"I decided to do it. Then we talked a little and received money to buy parts for two drones. They worked out well and we decided to get more serious about all this. I realized that I cannot make many drones myself, so we put together a team."

One drone costs UAH 11,000 to 16,000 ($280 to $410). At first, the team collected funds on their own - then others started to help.

"After we collected the initial funds, volunteers from our village gave us funding," one team member said.

The boys started making the attack drones and bombers in this March (2024). The students meet in the workshop during their free time, where they find all the equipment for the work.

"Earlier there were teachers, but now we do it ourselves," said team member Oleksandr.

"They used to come and help, but now we are on our own."

The team meets as often as there are enough parts.

"Sometimes we meet every day, even on weekends, on Sunday," said Oleksandr.

"Sometimes it's some members of the team, sometimes it's others."

In addition to making drones, they also test them at locations agreed in advance with the local police.

So far, the team has manufactured 16 drones in three months.

Now, local volunteers order the UAVs from the team and send them to the front. In the past week, for example, the team built four drones that will be sent to positions on the Donetsk front.
