Scientists produced a 3D reconstruction

of the painter Raphael's face

from a plaster cast of his presumed skull

and have concluded that the notorious perfectionist

may have given himself a nose job

in his famous self-portrait

Experts reconstructed his face with techniques

such as tissue layering

based on reference points on the skull

which revealed a more prominent nose

than the one featured in his self-portrait
