It was announced on 5 March that Arashi singer Kazunari Ninomiya has just welcomed his first child – a daughter.

The popular J-pop boy band's group activities came to a halt at the end of last year.

In a statement sent through his talent agency Johnny & Associates, Ninomiya said, “The other day, my first child was born. I’m relieved that she was born safely into this world.”

“From now on, as a father, I will support my family and work harder than ever. I would be very grateful if you could watch over me warmly. I look forward to your continued support,” Ninomiya added. “Last but not least, I would like to thank all the medical professionals for their devoted support during this pandemic.”

37-year-old Ninomiya was reportedly married to former news announcer Ayako Ito in November 2019. The birth of his daughter makes Ninomiya not only the first member of Arashi to get married, but also the first to become a father.

Fans are generally excited about the birth of an “Arashi Princess” with joyous tweets like: “Such a lucky baby girl with 4 awesome uncles spoiling her”; “Papa Nino!! Congratulations!!!”; and “Thanks for telling us, sharing the best moments of your life with us. We are so happy!”
