Succession's Nicholas Braun overheard reporters saying they didn’t think he would win
Award shows are always full of slightly cringe moments, and last night's Emmys was no exception. Despite being a virtual ceremony, where nominees video-called in from their homes, there were still many awkward moments - including one for Succession's Nicholas Braun.
The actor, who plays Greg in the brilliant HBO original, was nominated for outstanding supporting actor in a drama series, along with co-stars Matthew Macfadyen and Kieran Culkin.
Nicholas sat down with ABC for a pre-event interview, from his home where he was watching with his parents and brother. Due to technical difficulties, the actor tuned in to hear two of ABC's commentators discussing how they thought Kieran Culkin going to triumph in the category, before asking Nicholas about the category's rivalry.
"You're actually going up against some of your co-stars," the presenter asked. "Have you guys talked about this. Are you guys talking smack about who's going to win tonight?"

The 32-year-old responded, "It’s good to hear those bets right before we started talking, good to hear two votes for Kieran... But you know what my vote’s with Matthew. Who knows? I hope one of us wins. I hope it’s a three way tie."
How gracious. The Emmy eventually went to Billy Crudup for his role in The Morning Show, but Succession didn't go home empty handed. The drama, which you can watch on Amazon Prime, won best drama series, best writing for a drama series, best directing, and best actor for Jeremy Strong.
Elsewhere at the Emmys, Schitt's Creek swept the floor and won nine prizes, breaking the record for most wins in a single season for a comedy.
