Suffolk Pride has announced five weeks' worth of activities and shows for its 2024 Fringe event.

The Fringe Festival, which is held during Pride month, will take place from 31 May to 30 June across the county.

Events so far announced include a roller derby, comedy show and a youth takeover.

Organisers have encouraged residents to "support your community and Pride the way you want".

"It's back. Yes, we're having another Fringe," Suffolk Pride said in a social media post.

"14 fabulous dates for our Queer community to take part in however you like, a little something for everyone."

More details will be announced by organisers over the coming weeks, but a five week rundown has been released.

During week one on 31 May, Pride Blooms, which has previously seen Suffolk's LGBTQ+ community coming together to celebrate as well as commemorate hard times, will take place in Cornhill, Ipswich.

The same day will see a Rainbow Friday event take place at The Club in Cornhill, from 22:30 until 04:00 BST.

Week two will see a roller derby and roller disco on 7 June at Inspire Suffolk, Ipswich, and there will be Luscious Leona's Camp Night Out on 8 June at La Vida in Felixstowe.

During week three there will be other events at Ipswich's The Spread Eagle, while week four will see a youth takeover before week five sees a wellbeing walk.

The UK's first Pride march was held in London on 1 July 1972 - a date specifically chosen as the closest Saturday to the anniversary of the Stonewall riots of 28 June 1969.

Since then, Pride events and marches are held during the month of June throughout the UK.
