(UPDATE) Sungai SKC tragedy: Sixth body found, father identifies as Mohd Ikhwan

RAWANG: The body of the boy fished out of Sungai Selangor at 10.20am today has been identified as 10-year-old Mohd Ikhwan Mohd Ridhuan.

Hulu Selangor police chief R. Supramaniam said the victim’s father, Mohd Ridhuan Abdullah, had positively identified his son's body at Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital this morning.

The search and rescue (SAR) team discovered the body about five kilometres from the Kampung Timah Sungai SKC bridge, where five schoolboys were killed and two went missing in a fishing tragedy on Friday.

"Ridhuan had identified his son based on the clothings as well as his physique. He could not recognise the face. Post mortem is being carried out at the moment and we will wait for the results," said Supramaniam at the search and rescue command centre.

Earlier, Supramaniam said the body, still fully-clothed, was found stuck to a tree in the waters of Sungai Selangor.

"We will bring the parents of the two boys still missing to identify the body," he said in a press conference at the search and rescue command centre here.

Kamarul Ariffin Osman, the father of missing 12-year-old Muhammad Aiman, however, strongly believed it was not his son who was found, based on the clothing.

"It is not my son. The boy found (is clad in) a blue and yellow collared T-shirt. My son always wore neck jerseys. I am confident it is not my son," he said.

Suhaili Sahi, the mother of Mohd Ikhwan, was inconsolable and was whisked away from the command centre by family members.
